ONLINE SHOPPHAANG!

Shipping time……

The first disadvantage is that there is a time lag between you making the payment and the delivery of the product.Unlike retail stores, purchasing online will require some patience after you place your order, while you wait for your order to be packed, shipped, and delivered to you. Unless you are purchasing digital goods that can be “downloaded” immediately, you will have to wait a few days for your order to arrive. You simply can’t walk out of the store with your newly acquired item in-hand.

 Givin it a try

You cannot try out the product before buying it. Many people like to try things out before making the payment. This feature remains missing when you buy a product online. For instance take the case whee you want to buy foot-wears or eye-wears , there you are nt so confident about what you want to buy unless and until you don’t try it out on yourself, the size may differ from brand t brand and country to country.

Shipping costs Flying high

High shipping costs often add up to the total cost of the product. Companies usually set very high shipping costs, which add to the total expenditure. Unless you purchase digital products, there will sometimes be an additional expense to ship your purchases. The shipping cost will often depend on the size and the weight of the item. Many online retailers offer “free” shipping, but only if the cost of your order reaches a certain minimum amount. The additional shipping costs can make the overall cost of purchasing online, especially for larger and heavier items, much less attractive than buying locally.

Smuggle much?

Also, if the product is shipped from another country, you are liable to pay extra taxes for it. many items are ceased at the airports if the sky-high custom duty is not fullfilled. imagine ordering a 29 dollar kylie jenner lipkit with  a 20 dollar shipping charge that is actually the case when you buy a kylie kit from the kylie-cosmetics site itself and then your product being ceased at the Delhi airport. duh!!

Security!! Security??? Security…

The payment mode may not be secure. With increased security issues, making online payment through debit or credit cards might be an insecure mode of transaction. It is therefore important to check whether the payment gateway is secured or not.

Oh shoot it broke!

Possibility of product damage while shipping cannot be nullified. If the product received is damaged, it may again take several days for replacement or the company may not provide any replacement at all. buying delicate products such as cameras and other instruments is risky.

Virtual service centers??

when in future you need to maintain the product or change some parts it becomes hard to go for a service at a service station because you bought the product from a virtual shop and their is no place where you can show the bill and ask for a free home service. bleh.

Beware Shopaholics

The ease of shopping can be extremely dangerous for shopaholics, as they may get provoked to buy many items at a time leading to unwanted expenditure. yes. this happens.

Billing errors

The incidence of billing errors is high and if you encounter one, you will again have to follow a long procedure and wait for several days before the error gets resolved.

Payment Options

You need to have a debit or credit card to make a purchase. Very few websites give you the option of paying cash or check on delivery.there is a cash on delivery on many products but then most all the sites promote online payment by introducing various discount schemes and special gifts and card cashback points etc.

See It, Touch It, Feel It

Some shoppers like being able to see and feel an item, and to test it or try it on prior to purchasing. By actually seeing the item, and being able to physically feel and inspect the item, the purchaser can often make a far more reasonable assessment of the quality. This is difficult to do if you are just looking at an online photo of the item.

Personal Data

Some people are concerned about the potential security risks of storing and sharing of their personal data and credit card numbers with online retailers. While this risk is also an issue for local retail stores (and some security experts say an even greater risk), many people feel that purchasing online is an added security risk that they are just not willing to take.

No Relationship

When you purchase online, you rarely have the opportunity to build a relationship with the seller. On the other hand, local retail stores are far more likely to form relationships with their customers, simply because of the personal interaction between buyer and seller.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

Before you order the product:

You need to make sure that the transactions are secured and the shipping policy of the company is in the place. Cross checking the actual price of the product and the shipping charges with other companies can help you get the best deal. Make sure that there are no hidden costs in the shipping charges. You will have to take into consideration the actual price of the item as well as shipping charges, handling fees, and sales tax.

After you order the product:

Never reply to confirmation mails which ask for your personal details. Make sure that you take the print outs of all the online transaction records, which you can eventually use as proof. Other than all your transactions with the company, it is wise to save the product description as well. Lastly, you will have to monitor the time required for shipping. It is very important to get well-versed with terms and conditions before you buy any product online.
